How new figures get chosen: my criteria
Enes Demirel
The most common request: "add X." The list is long; criteria are mandatory.
I have three. One: a documented worldview — if a voice file can't be written, the name can't join. Two: diversity of perspective — a new figure mustn't repeat what the council already says. Three: respectful representation — caution with recent or contested figures.
At the top of my candidate pool: wise women — the council's most visible gap. Different geographies and professions follow. No names yet; promises are made in production.
Not adding is also a decision: some names don't fit commercially, others ethically. "Everyone" is not a council. The suggestion door is open — every name that passes the criteria joins the queue.
"'Everyone' is not a council."
